About Us

Property
We were immediately drawn to the 2-½ acres on John Rodes Blvd. as having a sense of sacred space. We bought the property in March ’03 with the expectation of renovating and adding on to the existing building with a modest budget, and opening our Yoga Center within six months. One year later after ‘code this and requirement that’ for a commercial property, it was clearly not a good investment for a vintage 1975 wood frame building. It takes a long hard look to reconfirm that you know your dream is meant to happen. Working up new plans, and going over again through the ‘permit system’ for new construction of a 3,000-sq. ft. building was the easy part. The next year was trying to get financing from someone who actually understood that a yoga center was really right for Brevard County, FL. Friends and family supported our journey, comparing it to giving birth to our dream. Now, the gestation of an elephant is two years – what takes over three years?! We were able to offer nearly everything in the old building to Habitat for Humanity South Brevard Restore, also on John Rodes Blvd. Their warehouse salvage store affords lower costs to the public – a good benefit for everyone! Kitchen cabinets, ceiling fans and even the bathtub all went to good use. Keeping within the efforts of recycling, Linda ‘harvests’ her hair each two-year period to Locks of Love!

Linda & Brett
Brett’s entire work career has been in pharmaceutical sales – in RI, CT, and now in FL. His desire to further his yoga involvement brought him to Yoga Teacher Training, 200 hr. certification at the Kripalu Center in the Berkshires of MA. His interactive style makes his classes relaxed, safe and fun.

Linda originally worked as a counselor with non-profits. The business world included corporate sales of computer systems (long before they became grocery items), and advertising director of a major retail chain with stores in three states. The more mellow life of a yoga career is great! Her 500-hr. certification through the Kripalu Center includes advanced training in Pranayama (breath technique), meditation, chakra, cardiac and cancer rehabilitation.

Most of our family lives in RI – where we are able to enjoy sleepover pajama yoga with the grandchildren!

Students
It is our dream to bring yoga to the community at large - making yoga accessible to the senior, the very inflexible, those recovering from serious illness, folks under great stress or in need of pain management. The ‘magazines’ may show all the pretzel people, but we have yoga for ‘real people’. We certainly offer the power and vinyasa classes for the very physically fit, but we also cherish our offerings for pre-natal and children. Our aim is to revitalize everyBODY, no matter your physical condition – you can do yoga and reap the benefits. We attune to body and breath awareness, the practice of being present, and linking breath with movement. We hold a strong emphasis on alignment, safety, and modifications within the postures. The practice, whether from chair to power is about being in the present moment. We are about body – mind – spirit, and integrating that at the end of the practice through relaxation. Whether it is a gentle, moderate or vigorous level of practice that you seek, there will be just the right class for you. There will be a variety of weekend workshops offered, ranging from health care issues to yoga and well being. We offer you a compassionate, self-acceptance journey for where you are in the moment. The teacher holds space for you to take that journey. We recommend you wear clothes you can move in easily, and eat only lightly prior to class or more fully at two hours before class. Please inform the teacher of any physical or mental limitations you have, and be sure to inform your physician of your yoga practice. Please make an effort to arrive early to honor yourself and the class.

Studio
Our Yoga Center is handicap accessible, has three teaching studios, and is fully equipped with mats, props, towels and eye pillows. Our Sunset Room is 1225-sq. ft., and is wood floored along with the Crane Room at 568 sq. ft. This room is named for our neighbors the Sandhill Cranes, and nearby Crane Creek – very Florida! The Earth Room is 192-sq. ft., smaller, carpeted, appropriate for meditation, more intimate classes, and as a place to center yourself before class. We have a variety of products that we sell – mats, ties, blocks, eye pillows, etc. Our teachers are fully certified, insured, and trained in CPR. We are just off rt. 95 at the Melbourne exit 180.
