Yoga Center Charity Class

The Friday early evening class is a donation to a charity. These organizations are all non-profit, so your donation is completely tax deductible. Students may write a check directly to the charity. We will have a charity for the month, or two months, and all will be from within Brevard County.

The “Happy Hour” class implies the usual two for one. You get your yoga class, and your donation goes completely to the charity of the month. The ‘R & R’ part hopes to make caring for yourself a priority – use this time at the end of the week to nurture yourself fully. This deeply restful class helps to quiet all the systems of the body – mind – spirit, allowing time to renew your batteries. The restorative (supported) postures help to eliminate any strain. Props and supports help you to receive the full benefit of a yoga practice in a compassionate manner.

February & March ’07:
Serene Harbor - Their mission is to provide immediate temporary emergency shelter for women and their children who are victims of domestic violence. They are an organization for social change, hoping to break the cycle of violence within the families coming to the shelter. They also provide community outreach and seminars to educate the public about the effects of domestic violence and how to work together to make change. Last year they directly assisted 254 women and children through shelter and outreach, having 7,887 counseling hours, 2,139 information and referral calls, and 794 hotline calls. They provided 4,302 days of shelter to the women and children who came to the shelter. All services are provided free of charge. The hope is to have their families go on to live violence-free lives.
